The Daily Muse

Here’s another one for ya, O3. I actually think clematis are usually some of the stupidest-looking flowers in people’s yards, but this one (in the seed-pod stage) is marvelous. One day, when I don’t have a yard with three trees in it, I’m going to have a bunch of different kinds of gardens, including, in fact a Dr. Seuss garden, which has been a dream of mine for a while. (Great minds, O3 …). Then there’ll be the Martian/sci-fi garden, which’ll have crazy plants like globe garlic and smoke bush. Nature’s bounty indeed.

P.S. I just found out the name of this is clematis virginiana, so one would think it would grow real good down there.

But one of my first pano attempts, thanks to O3′s generously provided stitching services, not to mention his kind and persistent encouragement. And whose presence we still sorely miss.*

It’s the flower market in Aix-en-Provence which is a small wonder. I really dug them blue roses, even if they weren’t completely natural. Kinda makes the composition a li’l lopsided, but that’s pano biz.

Actually, though, I’m posting it because I have a question: What are the physics/chemistry that explain why water puts out fires? Does it deprive fire of oxygen? Take away the heat by vaporizing into steam? I really want to know. I don’t trust WikiAnswers or sources like that. I bet y’all will know, because y’all know stuff like that.

OK, I really love this marvelous little perfect pop ditty, and this marvelous video that goes with it (as marvelous as the more widely seen Rube Goldberg version).
